All-Ireland Champions: When Ryan Bradley returned to his home town last Thursday night more than 10,000 people turned up to welcome him, the Donegal squad and of course Sam! It was a memorable night for everyone and Buncrana GAA would like to take this opportunity to thank the people of Buncrana for turning out in such huge numbers. Congratulations again to Jim, Ryan and the boys. Roll on Championship 2013!
Congratulations: Congratulations to Elaine and Martin Coyle on birth of their twin boys. Reports that the two wee men are called Jim, Ryan or Sam are yet to be confirmed.
Senior Football: Our Senior team were in action this weekend as the long awaited 2012 Intermediate Championship kicked off. Buncrana faced fellow Inishowen side Burt in the Scarvey on Saturday evening, in front of a large crowd. Following a lacklustre start from the home side, some solid work in the Midfield from Peter McLaughlin and Odhran Doherty coupled with good attacking play meant that Buncrana went in at halftime with a six point lead. HT Buncrana 1-7 Burt 1-1. The second half again started poorly for Buncrana, with the gap being reduced to three points. However the home side did enough in the remainder of the second half to run out winners with a scoreline of 1-11 to 1-6.
In the reserve game Buncrana also recorded a win, with a scoreline of 3-11 to 1-7. Best for Buncrana were Stephen Doherty, John Cassidy, Gerard McLaughlin and Gareth Porter.
