MALIN GAA NOTES 30-09-12

Fantastic scenes in Malin on Thursday evening with Declan Walsh carrying the Sam Maguire cup over the bridge in Malin to a huge crowd on the green, flanked by a guard of honour of Malin underage teams, thanks to everyone who helped organize the event with a special thanks to all the local entertainment on the stage who were hugely influential in making the night such a success.

Thanks to everyone who attended the surprise party for Irelands No 1 GAA fan Patrick Houton in the GAA centre on Saturday night, a great night had by all with special thanks to Charlie Doherty of ICRFM for the music and Anne Lafferty for all her culinary skills in the kitchen(we might have to call it Anne’s Country Kitchen from now on!)

Scór na nÓg – Scór na nÓg Inishowen will take place in Muff on Fri 12th October. The categories are Ceili dancing, Solo singing, Ballad, Instrumental group, Recitation, Drama, Set Dancing and Quiz. All participants must be under 17 on 1/1/2013. If you are interested in taking part and representing Malin GAA please contact Grace McCarron on 0868047199 before September 22nd.

Shaun McLaughlin(O) is representing Malin GAA Club in The Biggest Loser, an Inishowen charity fundraiser with all seven Inishowen clubs represented with each of the participants raising money for various local charities, well done to all of them for attempting to raise much needed funds. Shaun is raising money for the Donegal Hospice over the next 10 weeks with the final weigh in for all seven participants taking place in the Malin GAA Centre on Sunday 28th October at 9-00pm. Between now and then there will be sponsorship sheets available throughout the parish, please support Shaun in this very worthy cause. Dermot O Brien and Culdaff FC are very kindly running a quiz in McGuinness’ Bar, Culdaff on Friday 5th October to help raise funds for Shaun’s cause and we would ask as many people as possible from Malin GAA Club to attend.

Anyone looking to order club gear as Christmas(the dreaded word!) presents should place orders as soon as possible in McCleans shop in Malin so as to ensure to avoid disappointment.

Malin GAA club have a club phone which sends texts about club fixtures for adult and underage teams as well as club events and notices. If anyone would like their name added to texting list please contact the club phone on 0868668531.

There was no winner of this weeks lotto jackpot. The sequence drawn was 2,7,6,1,5,3,4. The €50 winner was James Hamish, Malin Glen with the €20 sellers prize going to McCleans Bar, Malin. Next weeks lotto jackpot is €3,050 and we thank the local community for its continued support.
