Gardai have uncovered a drugs den just yards from Letterkenny Garda station.

The house on Newline Court was being used to peddle heroin.

Gardai raided the rented house on Saturday night after a drug-user called to the wrong address looking for drugs.

The suspicious house-owner contacted the Gardai who then raided the house.

A quantity of heroin was uncovered and a man was arrested.

He is expected to appear at a future sitting of the local courts.

Local anti-drugs campaigner PJ Blake said he was delighted by the find and the assistance of the public in alerting the Gardai.

“It’s no secret that the drugs squad is operating on a shoestring.

“This is the kind of public assistance we need to stamp this scourge out.

“Everyone has a role to play and this person showed how they can literally keep drugs off our streets,” he said.
