It is understood the man received injuries when a golf iron was used during the attack.

The man is already out on bail following a brutal attack in the town last April.

The suspected burglar was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital for treatment for his injuries.

He was released this afternoon and is being questioned at Letterkenny Garda station.

He is expected to appear at Letterkenny District Court tomorrow morning.

It is not believed the man or his family received any injuries during the incident but are shaken up by their ordeal.
