REVEALED: CHILD ABUSER LIAM ADAMS CLAIMED A PAEDOPHILE RING OPERATED IN DONEGAL

October 5, 2013

liamAdamsCONVICTED child rapist Liam Adams claimed a paedophile ring operated in County Donegal.

The brother of Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams is behind bars awaiting sentence for the vile abuse of his own daughter.

But in 1998 he told the Irish Independent newspaper that a paedophile ring was operating in Louth where he worked as a youth worker – and it had links to Co Donegal.

But in an article in the Irish Independent in July 1998 on paedophilia in Co Louth, Liam Adams warned about groups of paedophiles.

The article read: “Youth community leader Liam Adams says there is a strong local involvement in what he described as a ‘very well organised arrangement’ which may also have links in Donegal. ‘We have names of well-known business people who we are 100pc sure are involved.’

“But he says that the authorities should be doing more to investigate the situation based on the evidence which has emerged so far.”

Of course what no-one knew then – apart from daughter Aine – was he himself was was a paedophile.

Adams, 58, from Bernagh Drive, Belfast, was found guilty of ten offences, including rape and gross indecency against his daughter Áine Adams

The abuse was committed over a six-year period between 1977 and 1983, when she was aged between four and nine.

Áine Adams has said she could now begin her life at 40 and “lay to rest the memory of the five-year-old who was abused.”

Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams admitted confronting his brother in a house in Buncrana about the incidents in 1987.

Aine claimed her uncle threatened her father with a hammer, a claim denied by the politician.

The RUC had been aware of the allegations from 1987, but the PSNI only investigated the allegations 20 years later.
