This is the dramatic video footage just moments after a Donegal man was plucked from the sea to safety.

The lobster fisherman was rescued after Inishowen sheep farmer John Grant heard his cry for help while tending to his sheep at Tullagh Bay.

The circumstances surrounding the rescue are even more amazing considering the man was an estimated half a mile out to sea clinging to a lobster buoy.

John Grant contacted Malin Head radio station who set in motion a chain of events which saw the man’s rescue.

The Lough Swilly RNLI footage shows the man being taken from a civilian boat to the Lough Swilly RNLI lifeboat before being taken ashore.

The rescue 118 helicopter then takes the man from Tullagh Beach to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry for treatment.

Well done to all involved in the rescue.

It once again highlights the amazing work doe by our volunteer sea rescue services around out coastline.

All rights of the video are property of the Lough Swilly RNLI.
