The council received €1.25million as a grant towards assisting communities to repair and improve roads under the Community Involvement Scheme with an additional sum of €732,550 for the Restoration Improvement Programme.

The announcement of the allocation of €732,550 brings the Council’s total funding allocation in 2014 under the Restoration Improvement Grant to €10,199,550.

This will enable the Council to prioritise further roads in poor condition for remedial works in 2014.

The Community Involvement Scheme, which was successfully piloted in 2013, promotes a joint approach between Donegal County Council and local communities and is aimed at improving the quality of local roads and giving locals the chance to repair roads that they feel need to be addressed.

Donegal County Council was this week allocated a further €1.25m for another 42 projects in 2014.

A full list of road works planned for the county in 2014 is available on www.donegalcoco.ie.
