LETTERKENNY SEAT BATTLE ‘GOING DOWN TO THE WIRE’ – McATEER

THE battle for the final seats in Letterkenny are going to go down to the wire, says Tirchonaill Tribune editor and political pundit John McAteer.

So far Liam Blaney (FF), John O’Donnell (Ind) and Ciaran Brogan (FF) have been elected for the next five years.

Ian McGarvey (Ind), James Pat McDaid (FF) and Gerry McMonagle (SF) look like being elected at this stage.

That leaves four seats in play – with Michael McBride (Ind), Dessie Shiels (Ind), Mick Quinn (SF), Jimmy Kavanagh (FG) and Donal Cullen (Ind) all still in the game.

Noel McBride (FG) still has an outside chance of being involved.

But it’s looking like the end of the road for Paschal Blake (Ind), Charlie McClafferty (Ind), John Watson (FF) and David Fisher (Ind).

Mr McAteer believes Michael McBride, Dessie Shiels, Mick Quinn and Jimmy Kavanagh will take the last four seats.

“Donal (Cullen) has an outside chance at this stage,” he added.
