Old Orchard Saturday Division
Arranmore United 3 Fintown Harps 0
Arranmore United gained these three valuable points without kicking a ball as Fintown Harps could not field a team due to a local Wedding.
Drumbar F.C. 0 Mulroy Celtic 2
The home side commanded the first half of the game with Alex Mc Neilis, David Giblin and Ray Ray causing the visitors a plenty of problems. Ray hit the crossbar in the opening 5 minutes. Daniel Bennett demonstrated how to toe poke the ball over the bar from inside the box in the 10th minute. Meanwhile the visitors went one ahead at the opposite end. The second half continued along the same lines. The corners and free kicks counts both headed into double figures. The visitors again showed that it’s a simple game and hit their second with 15 minutes to go. The substitutes for Drumbar Vinay Breslin and Radek created an opportunity to claw one back but with the keeper beaten the ball went just the wrong side of the post. Great team effort from both sides.
Drumkeen United 3 Strand Rovers 0
A Peter McNamee hat-trick ensured that Drumkeen took all three points from this Saturday League encounter. Drumkeen dominated the first half but only had a goal to show for their efforts. They also had the best of the second half and doubled their advantage when Peter McNamee scored a great goal following a throw in as he took one touch and fired it home from 20 yards out. Mc Namee completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot following a foul on Peter Brannigan. He stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way. The visitors rarely troubled the Drumkeen defence throughout this game and Drumkeen were worthy winners. The League title is now beyond Drumkeen but this result keeps them in the running for second place.
Glencar Inn Saturday Reserve Division
Milford United Reserves 5 Keadue Rovers Reserves 1
Milford won this game after a great first half performance had them 5-0 up. Milford were fast out of the traps and went 1 up with Ryan Flood scoring from a very tight angle. It was soon 2-0 when Raymond Friel headed from a Anthony Hegarty corner. Jason Mc Conigley made it 3-0 scoring at the back post from a good Ryan Flood cross. He got his 2nd of the game after good build up play from Ciaran Blaney and Darren McLaughlin found himself through on goal to fire home. After more good play from Milford Darren McLaughlin got a well deserved goal to make it 5-0. To their credit Keadue came out for the second half much stronger and pulled one back through Francis Gallagher. Milford went on to miss a couple of good chances but ran out comfortable winners. Great team performance from Milford with Jason Mc Conigley, Anthony Hegarty and Darren McLaughlin standing out. Team effort from Keadue.
Glenea United Reserves 2 Castlefin Celtic Reserves 2
Glenea reserves completed their home league programme undefeated with this hard earned draw against their title rivals. In a quiet opening both sides were finding it difficult to create any clear chances with neither keeper under any pressure. Castlefin opened the scoring on 26 minutes when a through ball found Ronan Tourish at the corner of the box and he slipped the ball past the home keeper to find the corner of the net. Glenea pushed hard for an equaliser and were rewarded on 35 minutes when Ciaran Mc Geady, was played in by Eugene Maguire, slotted the ball home. Glenea almost took the lead on 40 minutes when, after good work by Eugene Maguire, Lee O’ Brien saw his effort was well saved. In the 2nd half the home side started strongly and went close on a couple of occasions. They were rewarded on 60 minutes when Lee O’Brien’s well placed through ball released Ciaran Mc Geady and he slotted home for the lead goal. Both sides were finding it hard to get control of the game and on 70 minutes Castlefin equalised when from a corner the ball reached James Mc Menamin and his effort looped over everyone into the net. With the result having a big bearing on the league run in both sides looked for a winner and it was the away team that came closest at the end when it took a number of great saves from Ciaran Gallagher to keep the game level. Best for Glenea were Ciaran Gallagher, Eugene Maguire and Lee O’Brien, while Ronan Tourish was always a danger for Castlefin. Referee: Keith Ferry

Erne Wanderers Reserves 1 Glenree United Reserves 0
Erne had all the early chance is this game, hitting the woodwork and firing wide when the opportunities arose. Early in the second half Erne broke the deadlock from a free kick on the edge of the box. Ryan O’ Brien whipped it in and Mark Dorrian reacted with a glancing header into the far corner. Both teams had a few chances late on but failed to take them. Referee: Frank Duff.

Brian Mc Cormick Sports Premier Division
Kildrum Tigers 2 Cappry Rovers 1
Kildrum took all 3 points from a scrappy affair on a lovely spring day at Station Road. Both teams tried hard in the opening half hour but the deadlock wasn’t broke until 41minutes when Reece Laird cooly slotted home after great play on the right hand side. The Tigers doubled their lead on 52 minutes when Laird latched onto a loose ball to get his second of the game. Cappry pushed hard and pulled one back after a horrendous OG from Shane McIntyre. Laird could have wrapped the game up and got his hat-trick but he failed to convert from the penalty spot. Good displays from both teams.

Glenea United 0 Drumoghill F.C. 1
Liam O’ Donnell’s 26th minute goal was enough to see Drumoghill F.C. retain their lead at the top of the Brian Mc Cormick Premier Division. They faced a possible banana skin as they set out for Glasserchoo to face Glenea United who seldom allow points to leave Mc Gettigan Park unearned. In a tight opening it was Joe Coll who had to make a couple of good saves to keep the teams level. As the half progressed the home side came more into the game and began to create a couple of openings for themselves. Drumoghill opened the scoring on 25 minutes when a wayward shot fell to Liam O’Donnell and he slotted home. In the 2nd half the home side started well and went close to equalising when Ciaran Mc Geady just failed to connect with an Eamonn McHugh cross and later Lee O’Brien had his shot well saved after good work by Christopher Cannon. As the home side pushed on Drumoghill tried to play on the break and went close from a couple of corners. However in the end Glenea were unable to pull back the important goal. Best for Glenea were John Harley and Lee O’Brien, while Terence Shiels was best for Drumoghill. Referee: Kevin Logue.

Kerrykeel ’71 F.C. 2 Keadue Rovers 4
Kerrykeel started the better with Niall Doherty nearly opening the scoring on two minutes with a near post header from a Brian McBride cross. Keadue took the lead on ten minutes when Sean Boyle scored a header from a corner. Kerrykeel responded well and were level five minutes later when a Niall Doherty free kick came back off the crossbar and Brian McBride was on hand to fire home. Shaun Patton was on great form for the ‘71, causing Keadue all sorts of problems on the right hand side, it was his cross on 26 minutes that should have been put home by Andrew Friel but his shot was well saved by the Keadue keeper. The second half was end to end stuff but it was Keadue who went in front on 65 minutes when Ryan Green slotted home after good work by Corey Gallagher. Kerrykeel pushed all out in attack and forced Boyle into numerous saves from Mylie McBride, Niall Doherty and Niall Carr. Keadue won a penalty on 84 minutes to put Keadue 3-1 up. With Kerrykeel pushing Keadue caught them on the break with a fourth goal scored by Breslin. Kerrykeel got one back on 90 minutes with Shaun Patton scoring from close range after great work by Michael Mc Devitt. Best for Kerrykeel: Shaun Patton, Andrew Friel and Brian McBride. Team performance from Keadue. Referee: Dessie Mc Laughlin
Raphoe Town 5 Bonagee United 2
Raphoe welcomed Bonagee to a dry but cold Deele College Grounds on what was a perfect day for football. This game started evenly enough with both sides sussing each other out and it was going to take something special to unlock the defences and that’s exactly what we got when young Oliver Quinn picked up the ball and unleashed an unstoppable strike into the top corner of the Bonagee net giving the keeper no chance. Raphoe kept pushing and got a second when the superb Frankie Mc Brearty picked out David Craig with pinpoint pass and David smashed home the header from close range Raphoe where well on top and got a third when a brilliant move involving Frankie, Oliver and Jamie Gallagher resulted in Gallagher firing a pinpoint cross for the impressive Christy Bogle to slam home at the back post, Gallagher was involved again as he twisted the blood in the Bonagee defenders as he twisted and turned them until eventually he was taken down for a penalty and Frankie Mc Brearty slotted home from 12 yards. Raphoe thought that this game was over but Bonagee had other ideas and started the second half on top and pulled a goal back from a corner then five minutes later scored again when Mc Monagle scored a great goal into the top corner. They had a few half chances after this but Raphoe put the game to bed when David Craig scored on the break. Best for Bonagee: Mc Monagle and Cannon a great team performance from Raphoe. Referee: Paddy Duffy.
Convoy Arsenal 3 Lagan Harps 0
This top of the table clash between Convoy Arsenal and Lagan Harps played at Orchard Park, the Convoy version, was always likely to be a close affair as both teams have their eyes on the title. The home side got off to a dream start when they took the lead in the fifth minute when James Kee swept home from inside the box. It was an exciting first half played at a really high tempo with both sides creating numerous chances but surprisingly finished with only the one goal. The second half started almost identical to the first when Convoy scored again. It was Ryan Carlin who volleyed the ball home after some brilliant work by Marty Vance down the left wing. The two goal lead was in danger almost straight away as Lagan were awarded a penalty with their next attack. Thankfully for Convoy the crossbar came to the rescue and they could breathe a sigh of relief. The game was in no way over but and only for some amazing stops from Chris O’ Donnell in the Convoy goal the sides could have been level. The next big incident saw Lagan reduced to 10 men leaving them with a mountain to climb. Lagan made a few changes to try and get back into the game but it was Convoy who got the next goal as Johnny Robb released Darren Harvey who cooly rounded the keeper and slotted the ball home. Lagan tried to push on but a really solid Convoy defence held firm to claim a clean sheet and a vital victory. Referee: Mick Lagan
Lifford Celtic 2 Gweedore United 2
Lifford and Gweedore United met at the Greenbrae in the border town for what turned out to be a really entertaining game of football. Both teams went at it from the off with a strong Gweedore side being matched for effort by an inexperienced but committed Lifford outfit. Lifford went ahead on 20 minutes after neat one touch play involving Carlin, Gethins and Hamilton sent midfielder McNamee racing clear and he finished expertly over the advancing goalkeeper. Gweedore regrouped after this setback and starting pushing Lifford back, looking for an equaliser. Their hard work was rewarded when a ball from midfield split the Lifford defence open and the striker calmly slotted past White in the Lifford goal to level. Lifford started the 2nd half well and created a few half chances. Martin thought he had headed Lifford ahead again only for the ball to be cleared off the line. Lifford did take the lead on a breakaway soon after when young striker Kelly hit a fine shot into the bottom corner after a great ball from Gethins. Gweedore again started attacking and were level from a free on the right when keeper White came for a ball inside a crowded box and cleared only for the ball to fall to a Gweedore player who finished into the bottom corner. Gweedore pushed hard after this for the much needed win to stay in the promotion hunt but were held by a hard working Lifford team. Lifford almost grabbed all three points in the last minute when striker Kelly seemed likely to tap in at the back post only for the Gweedore keeper to make a great save at his feet. A draw was probably a fair result at the end. Best for Lifford were McNamee, Gethins and Kelly, good solid team performance from Gweedore
CT Ball Division Two
Whitestrand United 4 Letterbarrow Celtic 2
On a brisk Spring day Whitestrand United took on Letterbarrow Celtic at Mc Garvey Park. Whitestrand started the game very quickly and were a goal up within four minutes when Johnny Sweeny smashed in from close range. Whitestrand continued to be on top and had other chances before Anthony Fisher hit a sweetly struck shot that flew into the bottom corner from well outside the box. The third goal came when Whitestrand’s Kevin Loughrey had a shot that found the bottom corner. The final goal of a very productive first half performance came when Kevin Mc Carry was found in the six yard box and he had all the time in the world to put his shot past the keeper. The second half started at a much slower pace and the game seemed to be edging towards a comfortable win for Whitestrand. Letterbarrow got what appeared to be a consolation goal when Josh Ritchie scored. However the last moments of the game were made edgy when Connor Mc Daid hit a fantastic strike into the top corner of the goal. Whitestrand won the game but it was much closer in the end than it appeared to be edging to at halftime. Best for Whitestrand were Anthony Fisher and Sean Paul Sweeney.
Deele Harps 10 Eany Celtic 0
Deele entertained Eany at The Athletic Grounds on a perfect day for football. Deele were like a wounded animal following last week’s result and dominated from the first whistle to the last with Chris Roulstone a mere spectator in the Deele goal. The goal scorers were Shane Gallagher (2) Kevy Mc Brearty (2), Brian Breslin , Thomas Mullan, Kenan Gallagher grabbed his first Deele goal and a hat-trick from the excellent Gary Mc Girr completed the route. A great team performance from Deele.
Curragh Athletic 3 Dunkineely Celtic 0
Curragh Athletic received a walkover on Sunday when Dunkineely Celtic were unable to field. Not a club to be in the spotlight for negative reasons, hopefully the Darney Park men will get themselves sorted out and return to action next weekend.
Erne Wanderers 3 Ballybofey United 1
Erne Wanderers have moved into pole position in the CT Ball Division Two of the Donegal Junior League. On Sunday afternoon they defeated Ballybofey United at the Lakeside Complex in Ballyshannon. In a fiercely contested battle the Ernesiders came out on top with a 3-1 victory. The hosts started well and broke the deadlock on eleven minutes when Philip Patton played in Seamus Kane on the right side of the area and he finished superbly across the keeper into the bottom corner. Erne were bossing proceedings but failed to add to the scoresheet and were made to pay on twenty seven minutes when the visitors got in behind for the first time and Damien Glackin finished past O’ Brien. Wanderers struck back straight away when Patton flicked the ball on past the visitor’s defence and Oisin Roper burst through at pace and raced away and tucked it away under the keeper with his left foot for a super goal. The visitors started the second half on top but Wanderers broke away on fifty five minutes and Kane hit a great strike from the edge of the box to give a bit of breathing space to the home side. The Wanderers’ defence was solid throughout, superbly lead by Eamonn Cleary and Ryan O’Brien and in truth Erne squandered a number of chances to extend their lead. Ballybofey battled hard to the end in what was a real physical battle but Erne were good value for the win which keeps their promotion chances alive. Best for Erne were Cleary in defence and Dorrian in midfield while Ballybofey battled till the end. Referee: Marty Quinn.
