A young boy has been awarded €15,000 after he suffered a scar close to his eye following a car crash.

The crash happened in 2008 when the big was just one year old.

Letterkenny Circuit Court heard the boy was in a baby seat in the rear of the car being driven by his parents when the crash occurred.

He suffered bruising and some glass had to be taken from his eye when he was rushed by ambulance to Letterkenny University Hospital.

Another girl in the car, who is now aged 16, was also awarded €12,000 as a result of trauma she suffered in the crash.

The court heard she had stopped playing football and exercising as a result of trauma form the crash.

She still suffered anxiety traveling in cars and will not travel at speed while she has also become quiet and worried, the court was told.

Judge John O’Hagan said he was happy to recommend and accept both settlements.
