Fund set up to help local dad in recovery from serious accident

A RECOVERY fund has been set up for a local dad injured in an accident.

Friends have set up The Paul Holian Recovery Fund to help Paul and his partner Nicola (pictured above) and two children, through his long and difficult road to recovery.

At 39 years of age, Ballyare man Paul Holian should, had fate not cruelly intervened, been continuing in his work as a block layer of solid reputation.

Paul is also well know in equestrian circles throughout Donegal and beyond.

But a devastating accident on July 9th last has removed him from work and leisure activities for the foreseeable future as the long road to recovery stretches ahead and his immediate family count the days and the cost.

Paul was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital following the accident before being transferred to the Mater Hospital in Dublin. He is currently back in Letterkenny waiting for the call that will bring him to the Rehabilitation Hospital in Dun Laoghaire.

The journey to rehabilitation will be a lengthy one and consequently the support of his family and friends and the local community is key.

Members of the extended family and friends have, as a result, established the Paul Holian Recovery Fund to help him and his partner Nicola and two children, on that long journey.

Among the fund-raising efforts being organised is a ticket draw – the top prize for which is a week for two trip to Dubai including flights and hotel.

Tickets cost ten euro each and are available from Gary Holian 086 2158420 at the Dry Arch Complex in Letterkenny, from Pat Hegerty at Ballyare (086-8904850) and from Carr’s of The Diamond.

The draw will take place on Friday night, October 21st, at a special function in the Clanree Hotel where music will be by the Ryan Turner Band along with a number of local artists all getting together in support of the charity.

Other events lined up include:

  • a tractor run on September 18th
  • a bicycle run (date to be confirmed)
  • and a charity night in Carr’s of The Diamond on September 30th.

Proceeds from the Northwest Truck Fest in Letterkenny will be divided between the Paul Holian Recovery Fund and the M.S. Donegal branch.

Your support will be appreciated by liking and sharing this story and the Paul Holian Recovery Fund on Facebook.
