Charlotte Temple of Magee tweed has been shortlisted in the creative industry category of the IMAGE Businesswoman of the Year Awards 2016.
Charlotte is the great-granddaughter of former owner Robert Temple, who bought the Magee 1866 business from his cousin, founder John Magee. She is now the design and retail director of the luxury Donegal-born fashion brand, and leads the business alongside her father, Lynn, and brother, Paddy.
The IMAGE Businesswoman of the Year Awards aims to recognise and celebrate inspirational women across all areas of the Irish business world, and Charlotte is certainly an inspiring force for women.
She was also a Lieutenant in the Irish Army, serving as a platoon commander in Liberia before joining the family business in 2008.
Charlotte oversees the retail development and clothing collections for the brand, which has gone from strength to strength and has many celebrity fans around the world, most recently including Hollywood actor Mel Gibson.
In the 10th anniversary year of the IMAGE Magazine enterprise awards, CEO of IMAGE Publications Limited, Clodagh Edwards, said that combining the shortlist was a huge challenge.
“With 394 individual entries, our largest number ever, competition proved stronger than ever for places. It took a lot of deliberation, and the women who made this shortlist are truly inspirational and very fitting for our special anniversary awards,” she said.
The ultimate winners will be announced at a gala dinner on Monday, November 21, in Dublin.
