‘Pieta House badly needed to aid Donegal’s suicide epidemic’

LETTERKENNY musician Nigel Hegarty is holding a launch of his new EP, ‘A Better Life’ next Saturday, January 21, at the Balor Theatre – with proceeds going to Pieta House.

The night is, he says, ‘in celebration of all the work the good people at Pieta House do and to support the opening of a Pieta House in Donegal’.

The night will feature Nigel Hegarty and a guest band performing all the tracks from the EP as well as a few extras.

There will be support on the night from Blackbird and Crow; Without Willow; Shauna McDaid; John Muldowney; and Jenny Liston.

“A Pieta House is long overdue for a county which has suffered so badly to suicide and mental health problems,” Nigel told Donegal Daily.

“Pieta house is something badly needed in the north west where suicide has become an epidemic of sorts.

“To hear they are now coming to the county thanks to the great work of people like Danny Devlin, John Muldowney and many others is a testament to all involved in fundraising efforts over the past couple of years.

“Any little bits I can do to help them along the way and any bits of money I can raise, I only hope can help save at least one more person.

“To have a stellar lineup of some of the top musicians in the north west, including the support acts and those playing in my backing band, just goes to show it’s a team effort that everyone is willing to get behind and tackle something that has taken many a great person over the years unexpectedly.”

The night gets underway at 8pm on Saturday-week.
