A man who died tragically while at work in Galway is believed to be from Donegal.

The accident occurred yesterday at Ros a Mhíl harbour in Connemara. The man, who is said to be in his 40s, was killed after he was struck on the head by a piece of machinery.

Another man was injured in the accident. Both were taken to University Hospital Galway, where the man from the north-west was pronounced dead. The other worker’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The Health and Safety Authority are due to visit the scene to investigate today.
