Former Finn Harps striker Ruairi Keating has signed for Torquay United until the end of the season.

Keating had three short-term spells at Harps in each of the last three League of Ireland seasons.

The County Mayo man spent the first halves of the 2014 and 2015 seasons at Finn Park on loan deals from Sligo Rovers.

Keating moved to Galway United for the 2016 campaign, but signed for Harps during the summer.

The 21-year-old has now pitched up at Torquay, who are 17th in the Conference Premier.

Gulls player-manager Kevin Nicholson revealed that six-footer Keating had been recommended by former Leicester, Brighton, Sheffield United and Port Vale boss Micky Adams, who managed Keating at Sligo last season.

“Ruari came in last week off his own back, paying his own way, and he’s been excellent,” said Nicholson.

Keating has signed a non-contract deal at the club.
