Well-known Donegal photographer Paul Doherty has built a stunning house on the outskirts of his hometown of Kilmacrennan.

The house, designed by multi-award-winning Donegal architects McCabes, it fits beautifully into the local landscape.

Here is a stunning taste of Paul’s new home and there’s even a guest appearance by a certain rare white deer.

Set in a native silver birch woodland near Kilmacrennan, this stunning setting is also the home to a very rare breed of white dear. The house nestles seamlessly with nature on the edge of the River Leannan, a Special Area of Conservation.

Doherty’s brief to the architects was influenced by his travels around the world. The house is intended to “grow out of the site” and be unique, it is inspired by a passion for nature, it is sustainable, healthy, conserving, and diverse.

Enjoy and don’t feel bad about house envy – we all have it now!
