A 17-year-old Letterkenny student has been chosen as Miss Donegal for 2018.

Sophie Devlin, a fifth-year pupil at Loreto convent, was a hugely popular winner at the final held in Dillon’s Hotel.

Sophie will no go forward to represent Donegal in the Miss Ireland pageant.

She follows in the footsteps of Buncrana woman Lauren McDonagh who was the overall winner of Miss Ireland last year.

Sophie, who also works part-time in the Honey Pot restaurant at High Road, beat off stiff competition in the final.

Other stunning finalists included Robyn Boyle, Carla Wylie, Jessica Wood, Ayesha Aiken, Rebekah Coyle, Niamh McCarry, Nicole Gallagher and Chloe Montgomery.

The very capable MC for the evening was the ever-popular Marty Friel.
