Letterkenny Golf Club ladies enjoyed a fine autumnal day for playing the September pendant on Tuesday 4th.

As the season draws to a close there wasn’t as large an entry as in previous competitions but that in no way took away from the standard of golf played.

Winner of the September Pendant Anne Cannon 70 net with Lady Captain Maura Cavanagh and Competition Secretary Angela Kilgallen.

In fact it was all low handicap players who took the honours the winner being Anne Cannon scoring a very impressive 70 net.

Next to Anne it was Veronica McAteer 73 net and Lady Vice Captain Angela Bradley was 3rd with 74 net.

The Letterkenny Chamber Classic was played on Friday 7th and winners from amongst the ladies included Kate Gallagher on the Brian McCormick Sports Team which came second overall and Celine Bradley on the Bank of Ireland team won the longest drive for the ladies and Marian O’Sullivan on the Magees Pharmacy team won the nearest the pin prize.

The Mary McDaid Cup was won by Portsalon, the Letterkenny team came second.

The ladies Past Captains Prize was played on Sunday 9th and by all accounts everyone enjoyed a lovely day.

There was a tea and coffee reception followed by the golf and then a lovely meal in the evening.

Everyone commented on the beautiful prizes and as far as I can see from the photos it was a very glamorous occasion.

Kay Kelly won with a very solid 36 points., Anne Condon was 2nd on 35 points and Mary Murray was 3rd with 34 points. Celine Bradley and Nellie McHugh won the 9s.

Best of luck to Sandra McMonagle Captain of the Maire O’Donnell team who travel to Murvagh on Sunday 16th for the first leg of the final of this competition. Sandra has a very strong selection and the ladies branch wish them all the best.

There will be Club competitions on 18th and 25th and the first Hamper Competition will be on the 23rd and there will be a draw for this.
