HSE Worklink Dungloe and the GTR (Getting Together in the Rosses) Mental Health Support Club are organising an event to celebrate World Peace Day. It is part of One Day One Choir – A global choral project for peace.

This event will take place in the Ionad Teampall Chroine, Dungloe on Friday, September 21 at 2.00pm

HSE Worklink is a training and support service for people in recovery from mental ill health.

The service has been providing training and support in Donegal (Letterkenny, Carndonagh and Dungloe) since 1995.  The Worklink Centre in Dungloe opened its doors in 2003.

In 2007 the staff and service users in Worklink Dungloe collaboratively set up the GTR Mental Health Support Club as a social and support network which takes place outside of training hours.

The aim of the GTR Club is to promote positive mental health and social inclusion, which is achieved through the organising of events, activities and workshops in the local community and with the local community.

In 2013 the GTR Club formed a singing group – Beyond Blue following recommendations from research carried out in the UK, which proved that singing can have a range of social, emotional and psychological benefits: and a positive impact on mental health and confidence.

One Day One Choir is a global event aimed at getting as many people around the world all singing for peace on this one day.

The songs have been chosen by participants. Local choirs, schools and other community groups have been invited by Worklink/GTR to participate in celebrating World Peace Day and to be involved in a global project

Everyone is welcome to come along and sing or just listen, there will also be some poetry and an art and photography exhibition.

Refreshments will be served afterwards.

The organisers are urging everyone to come along and show your support for world peace!
