It’s a new era for Mourne Antiques

Mourne Antiques of Letterkenny has taken a great big step back in time after moving to a historic location.

The new building at No. 45 Main Street is almost an antique in itself. The grand property was a former bank, with its history going back around 100 years.

Mourne Antiques owner Frances Spears took it on like a revival project – breathing new life into it by tearing away a suspended ceiling to reveal original features and opening the windows once more to flood the large space with light.

Here, Frances gives us a tour of the spacious new store:

The new Mourne Antiques store offers a huge amount of space for Frances to showcase all the treasures she has in stock. The square shape is fantastic for people to come in and have a browse, and it is much more accessible for prams and wheelchair users.

The furniture has become a big draw since the move, Frances said, as customers can see all the interesting cabinets, tables, chairs, desks and items in full view.

Exclusive Discount:

To celebrate these uncovered gems, Mourne Antiques are giving 10% off furniture all month to any customer who mentions Donegal Daily at the till! This reduction is valid until 30th September 2019.

With fascinating furniture dating from as far back as 200 years ago, you’ll find true one of a kind wonders at Mourne Antiques.

The new store is also a great benefit to jewellery shoppers – as the large space accommodates three cabinets of antique, gold and diamond jewellery alongside modern and contemporary Irish accessories from Amelia’s Irish Design and Gifts.

Mourne Antiques is best-known for their jewellery, which is sourced from top dealers and sold with expert guidance. They also do repairs to heirloom jewellery.

Frances said she looks out for four key factors before buying in her antiques: beauty, quality, practicality and price. She has a keen eye for a great find, and her best gift items include China and silver tea sets, art, light fittings, barometers, vases, crockery, rugs and a whole variety of other pieces. You never know what you’ll find until you come in and see!

Frances clearly loves the new location. “I’ve been calling this ‘my building’ for years and the opportunity to move in just came to me,” she said.

Frances is also delighted to offer her customers free parking. All you have to do is ring the store on (074) 912 6457 and they’ll buzz you into their private space behind the building, located just left before the Dillon’s Hotel car park.

Mourne Antiques has been an established business in Letterkenny for the past 27 years, but this new store has just added another gem to the Main Street.
