REPUBLIC of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy says Ronan Curtis is in his plans for next month’s Euro 2020 play-off.
Ireland are away to Slovakia on March 26 and in-form Curtis is firmly in contention.
McCarthy watched Curtis in action on Saturday, when Portsmouth defeats Shrewsbury Town 2-0 at Fratton Park.
The St Johnston man has been in scintillating form, scoring 11 goals and he has clearly made a mark on McCarthy’s mind.
“Ronan is making his claim for the play-off as well,” McCarthy said.
“He didn’t score against Shrewsbury but you could see how confident he is at the minute. He’s on top form with Pompey and he did well on Saturday.”
Portsmouth face Exeter tonight in the EFL Trophy semi-final with a place in the final at Wembley up for grabs.
Pompey boss Kenny Jackett says he will make some changes to his team for the game.
He said: “We’ve always changed the team in this competition and given chances to one or two younger players.
“There will be some alterations against Exeter and those guys who have been pushing from the bench have to be ready.
“We’ll need some energy from different players coming into the team, but we’ll be doing whatever we can to win.”Tags:
