What an incredible week it has been for our young Dunfanaghy golfers.
On Saturday, our senior scratch team with an average age of 15 years (excluding team captain Daniel McColgan!) beat a hugely experienced Rosapenna senior team 3:2. Well done to Darcy Hogg, James Marriott, James Sweeney and Tom McClintock. The eagerly awaited return leg is at Rosapenna next Friday at 4pm.
Earlier in the week young James Marriott won the Dunfanaghy Wednesday Open with a fantastic gross one under par, Darcy won the Ulster Under 15 Boys title while Luke Kelly won the Irish Under 17 Championship at Thurles.
Mind you the boys didn’t have it all their own way. A fun day was held for the cadets sponsored by the Captains. Every child was a winner with special credit to Niall Moore and Katie McColgan who won their respective age categories.
With such unbelievable talent on our doorstep, the future for Dunfanaghy GC is bright.
Congratulations also to Yvonne Armstrong and John McLaughlin who each got a hole-in-one on Saturday. Yvonne aced the 17th whilst John, celebrating his birthday, holed his magnificent tee shot at the 7th.
