Donegal County Council has given the green light for a church to move into the Milford Retail Park behind Lidl.

The Milford Reformed Presbyterian Church has gained permission to change two commercial units into a church for their small congregation.

In recent years, the church community has been unable to use their current building on the Kilmacrennan Road due to structural concerns.

The planning application, lodged by Rev Mark Loughbridge in January, also sought modification to elevations which were previously granted planning permission.

A report by Michael Galbraith Architects submitted to the council said the Church intends to relocate to the new location for their immediate future but hope to be in a position to build/purchase a new Church for their congregation in the long term. The report said they do not know how long they intend to be located at the unit but would hope to be in a position to move to a more permanent location within the next 5-10 years.

The local authority granted the retention permission application, subject to eight conditions.
