There has been one further Covid-related death in Ireland and 408 new cases of the disease.

No county-by-county breakdown is available.
The number of coronavirus patients in ICU is 33, one less than yesterday. There are 110 people in hospital with Covid-19 and there were nine additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

A total of 4,919 people have died with Covid-19 in Ireland. The cumulative total number of cases since the pandemic began is 252,303.

Of the cases notified today: 205 are men, 202 are women and 77% are under 45 years of age. The median age is 31-years-old.

As of 6 May, 1,746,912 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in Ireland. 1,267,167 people have received their first dose while 479,745 people are full vaccinated with two doses.

The five day moving average of new cases is 406. This is a small decrease from one month ago when the five day moving average was 411.

The Chief Executive of the HSE has described the current hospital figures as “encouraging” when compared to the situation a few weeks ago.

“We now have a proven and winning combination, the vaccination programme and public support for public health measures,” Paul Reid said on Twitter.
There were no further Covid-related deaths reported today in Northern Ireland while 81 new positive cases were confirmed there
