A Convoy man has been sent forward for trial at Letterkenny Circuit Court accused of using false information in relation to making a gain for himself.

James Gibson, of Ballyboe, Convoy, appeared at Letterkenny District Court.

The 61-year-old is charged with dishonestly by deception induce an officer of the property authority to do an act with the intention of making gain for himself.

The alleged incident relates to land at Knockmonaster Lower in Ballindrait, Lifford.

The court was told that the value of the land, a cottage, is between €50,000 and €60,000.

Judge Alan Mitchell described the case in court as “a very interesting offence.”

Mr Gibson’s barrister said the case required both senior and junior counsel as he said the case could be “quite detailed.”

Judge Mitchell agreed and gave Mr Gibson the alibi warning and adjourned the matter to the next circuit court sitting in Letterkenny starting on July 13th.
