A NEW judge is presiding on the District Court bench in Donegal.

judge Sandra Murphy was welcomed to the county at Monday’s sitting of Letterkenny District Court.

Following the appointed of Judge Paul Kelly as President of the District Court, moveable Judge Alan Mitchell and Judge Deirdre Gearty, moveable judges in the District Court, have presided in District No.1.

Judge Murphy, a native of Ballinrobe, is also a moveable Judge of the District Court having been appointed in 2020.

Solicitor Ciaran Mac Lochlainn, on behalf of the legal practitioners, welcomed Judge Murphy to Donegal.

“I hope your stay in Donegal is enjoyable,” he said. “You will get every cooperation from the solicitors, I have no doubt about that.

“I wish you well – I’m just sorry we couldn’t do anything about the weather.”

Recently-appointed Judge Raymond Finnegan will take over as the permanent Judge for District No.1 later this year.
