The volunteer Lough Swilly RNLI crew was involved in a dramatic rescue this afternoon, on their way back from Dublin.

The team had just left Dun Laoghaire on their way home with their relief ALB Lifeboat 13-21 when they were tasked by Howth Coast Guard at 13.35pm.

Two kayakers had been reported missing around the Baily Lighthouse area.

One of the rescued kayaks.

The volunteer Inishowen crew located the two missing persons and handed them over to Howth Coast Guard before continuing their onward journey to Belfast.
