A young man is to be sentenced next January for possession of child pornography after animated images of child pornography were found on his phone.
The 20-year-old appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court where he was arraigned on one charge.
He is charged that on 15th May, 2021 he had in his possession child pornography on a black Huawei phone.
The pictures were 16 images of Hentai animated pornography, 14 of the images depicting children under 17 years of age engaged in sexual activity and two images of children under 17 years of age with their genital areas exposed.
The man pleaded guilty to the charge in court.
His barrister, Mr Shane Costello SC, said he considered the images fell into the lower category.
He said his client has never been in trouble like this before and said that he was genuinely concerned for him stating he was “vulnerable.”
Judge John Aylmer ordered a Probation and Welfare Report on the accused and adjourned the case for final sentencing to the January, 2023 sessions of the circuit court.
