Man in court charged with making threats armed with a hammer

A man has appeared in court charged with threatening a woman while in possession of a hammer.

Matthew Lafferty appeared at Letterkenny District Court.

He is charged that on June 1st, 2022 at Robinson Hall, Port Road, Letterkenny he made a threat to a woman leading her to believe he would kill or cause her harm.

On the same date and at the same location the 30-year-old of Robinson Hall, Port Road, Letterkenny, is also charged with the same offence against another man.

He is also charged on the same date and at the same location with burglary while having a hammer in his possession.

Garda Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions has agreed to trial by indictment at the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court starting on October 19th.

Lafferty was remanded on bail to appear at Letterkenny District Court on October 4th for the presentation of a book of evidence in the case.
