Garda motorcyclist hospitalised following collision

A Garda motorcyclist was hospitalised following a collision outside Donegal Town this afternoon.

The garda, aged in his 40s, was injured in a collision with a car near the Tullyearl roundabout at approximately 15.35 this afternoon.

The officer was transported to Letterkenny University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Gardaí have confirmed that the driver of the car was not taking part in the Donegal International Rally.

The N56 Ballyshannon to Donegal Town road was closed for a number of hours as emergency services worked at the scene.
