An all-out-strike of retained firefighters will not take place tomorrow.
Industrial action will be de-escalated following lengthy talks in the Labour Court today.
Firefighters were planning an all-out work stoppage from midnight tonight. However, this has been changed to work-to-rule action until a hearing of the Labour court next Monday morning.
Following seven hours of exploratory talks today, the Labour Court believes there are grounds for a formal hearing.
SIPTU represents around 2,000 retained firefighters across 200 stations around the country. The dispute is centred on a crisis in recruitment and retention of firefighters, linked to pay, working conditions and work/life balance.
