Met Éireann has forecast a spell of unseasonably wet and windy weather this weekend, with a status yellow rain warning issued for Donegal this afternoon.
The alert will be in place from 12 noon until midnight.
The rain will be heavy at times, causing possible localised flooding, poor visibility and difficult driving conditions.
It will be blustery too, with fresh to strong easterly winds and highest temperatures of 15 to 17 degrees.
On Saturday, Ireland can expect a further band of rain or showers as low pressure tracks eastwards, introducing fresh to strong and gusty north to northwest winds.
It will be particularly windy along exposed coasts in the west and northwest with a further weather warning likely to be issued.
The winds will moderate westerly on Sunday with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers.
Early indications are for the weather to remain unsettled into next week, Met Éireann said.
