Urgent meeting to be held to discuss Portsalon Pier upgrade

A public meeting is to be held to discuss the ongoing urgent upgrade works needed at Portsalon Pier.

It follows recent further damage caused to the pier which was highlighted in a video sent to Donegal Daily.

After a week of high winds and rough seas battering the Donegal coastline recently, the pier appeared even worse for wear.

Works had been scheduled to be carried out over the Summer to ensure the pier’s condition would not worsen further, but the planned works were never completed.

The pier had already been closed earlier this year facilitate the works, but as they were not completed before October 31st, there were fears that the required grant funding could not be drawn down to finish them.

However, it is understood the grant money is still available.

A meeting to discuss the upgrade works at the pier will be held next Tuesday at the Stores Bar in Portsalon starting at 8pm.
