Resurfacing works planned for Newmills Bridge

Donegal County Council is planning to carry out improvement works on the Newmills Bridge this year.

It follows repeated calls from Cllr Donal Mandy Kelly seeking a non-slip surface on the bridge due to safety concerns. The bridge, he said, has had several near-miss accidents in recent years.

Cllr Kelly raised the issue again with the Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District today, to which the council confirmed that the bridge and a section of the R250 are included in the Draft 2024 Restoration Improvement programme.

Cllr Kelly welcomed the response, stressing the importance of work being done this year “before there is a serious accident”.
