Motorists are being urged to proceed with caution as many roads around the county remain in a treacherous condition this morning due to black ice and snow.
Gardai have urged road users to travel only if necessary after overnight snow and frost.
“Please only travel if necessary until road conditions improve,” a garda spokesperson said.
“Stay safe and check in on elderly/vulnerable neighbours, family members and friends. Alert Gardaí if you feel that somebody is in need of our assistance.”
Temperatures are expected to rise later in the day, bringing an end to the current cold spell.
