Lough Swilly RNLI stood down after surfer rescued by passer-by

Both Lough Swilly RNLI lifeboats were tasked yesterday evening by Malin Head Coast after a surfer got into difficulty.

They were responding to reports, at around 4:10pm, of an incident at Pollan Bay beach in Ballyliffin. Not long after being launched, however, both boats were stood down as the surfer had made their way to safety.

“We would like to thank the member of the public who raised the alarm and assisted the surfer,” an RNLI spokesperson said.

Remember, if you’re in trouble in or on the water or see someone in difficulty, please dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.
