There have been a total of 11 arrests for drink and drug driving so far across Donegal during the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
A total of five people were arrested for suspected drug-driving and a further six people have been arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
The Easter Bank Holiday Road Safety operation began on Thursday evening and will continue into Tuesday morning.
Head of the Garda Traffic Corps, Inspector Seamus McGonigle, said one arrest for suspected driving while under the influence is one too many.
He appealed to people to continue to slow down, drive with care and never to drive while under the influence.
“Those statistics of 11 arrests so far this weekend are too high but unfortunately are in line with other arrest statistics for Bank Holiday weekends.
“Our checkpoints will continue across the Bank Holiday weekend in a bid to keep motorists safe on our roads.
“Again, we would remind people that there are still high volumes of traffic on our roads and we would ask people to take extra care while driving,” he said.
