The famous Glebe House near Letterkenny has been cleared of its priceless collection in order to make way for specialist conservation works.
The Glebe House, Gallery and Gardens is one of the county’s most loved and visited attractions.
Boasting stunning gardens, the Derek Hill collection and beautiful tea rooms, Glebe House welcomes thousands of visitors each year to the Gartan area.
The facility has been closed to the public since last September to facilitate a major conservation programme of works. The grounds are expected to reopen later this month while Glebe Gallery and Glebe House will reopen in phases for the summer.

However, a spokesperson for the attraction this week said the house has now been emptied of its valuable, and rare, contents ahead of the next phase of the works.
“Conservation specialists have carefully packed and moved the collection which was no mean feat, as anyone who has ever visited Glebe House can attest to,” they said.
Derek Hill collected hundreds of objects including paintings, furniture, books, photographs, ceramics, glassware, pottery and curios.
“Specialists have been working to preserve the wallpapers through a combination of preventive and restorative measures, using traditional conservation practices. This is slow and methodical work. Their expertise is second to none.”
