GARDA INTERPRETER PLEADS GUILTY TO DANGEROUS DRIVING

A man used by Gardai as an interpreter has been sent on a safe driving course after being found guilty of dangerous driving.

Marius Cirpaci of 1 Rosemount, Letterkenny appeared before Letterkenny District Court.

An off-duty Garda was driving at Drumbarnett Lower in Manorcunningham on January 16th last.

The Garda revealed that a car was on his tail and he felt like the driver was trying to “bully” him into the hard shoulder.

The man then overtook up to five cars and then sped of in the direction of Letterkenny.

The man then engaged in a number of dangerous moves and forced the off-duty driver to swerve to avoid the overtaking car.

Defence solicitor Patsy Gallagher said his client was 24 and had never come before the court before.

He said he had no excuse for what had happened but was simply rushing to get home for a family function.

Judge Paul Kelly said he wanted to send Cirpaci, 24, on a Pro-Drivers course and adjourned the case until April 14th.
