The Letterkenny Ladies Golf Club AGM took place in the clubhouse in Barnhill last Thursday 21st November when outgoing Lady Captain Angela Bradley handed over the mantle to incoming Lady Captain Celine Markey.

Celine’s new committee was installed, namely Lady Vice Captain Eugenia Moran, Honorary Secretary Cecelia Doran, Honorary Treasurer Monica McDonagh, Honorary Competition Secretary Angela Kilgallen, Honorary Handicap Secretary Triona Daly as well as Anne Cannon, Tracy Spence, Grainne Hines, Mary McNulty, Pauline Curley and ex-officio Angela Bradley.

Outgoing Captain John Bowe addressed the meeting and expressed his thanks to Angela both for a good year’s work and his improved golf attributing his reduced handicap to some tips he gleaned from her over the course of the year.

Incoming Captain Ed Margey also addressed the ladies clarifying that although their surnames were similar he and the new Lady Captain were not husband and wife and so he anticipated a good working relationship in the year ahead.

Minutes and reports approved the following prizewinners were announced.

Silver Medal winner Marian O’Sullivan, Bronze Medal Bridget McClafferty, Silver Spoon Vera Kearney, Birdie Tree Anne Cannon, Match-Play Runner-Up Kate Gallagher, Winner Cecelia Doran and the most prestigious prize of all Golfer of the Year went to Marian O’Sullivan.

There have been 15 turkey winners so far and the 6th and final hamper will be competed for on Sunday 1st December.

The Christmas party will take place on Friday December 6th December.

Dinner in the clubhouse at 8pm followed by presentation of prizes (turkeys and hampers) music and no doubt a little festive revelry thereafter.

Always a good night so do come along and join in the fun. Sheet in the locker room to book and pay into Fees box by Friday 29th.
