Man admits producing kitchen knife during dispute

A man has admitted producing a kitchen knife during a dispute with a woman at a house in Letterkenny.

Jimmy McGinley, aged 34, appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court where he pleaded guilty to a number of charges.

He is charged that on March 30th, 2019 at Glendale Manor he threatened to kill Antonia O’Brien.

He is also charged with producing an article in the course of a dispute with Ms O’Brien, namely a kitchen knife and also of assaulting Ms O’Brien.

He pleaded guilty to all three charges.

Barrister Simon Gillespie said his client has no previous convictions.

He said this incident happened at a difficult time in his life but is in the process of resolving his problems.

A probation report was ordered and the case was adjourned for sentencing to the next sitting of the circuit court.
