February 2, 2022

A woman who assaulted an elderly couple during a burglary at their home is to be sentenced in June.

Krystyna Gasperowicz pleaded guilty to assault causing harm and robbing the couple at their home in Coolboy, Letterkenny.

The 35-year-old appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court where she spoke only to plead guilty to the charges.

It followed a burglary at the couple’s home on June 14th, 2020.

A previous court sitting heard how the couple needed hospital treatment following their ordeal.

No details of the incident were given during the arraignment of the accused who had a previous address at Ard Glass, Long Lane, Letterkenny.

Barrister for the accused, Mr Shane Costello, SC, said the circumstances of the case were very serious.

He added that a psychiatric report had been prepared for Miss Gasperowicz, a Polish national, and he invited the court to read it and also to consider the probation report in the case.

Judge John Aylmer adjourned the case until June 28th next for sentencing.
