It’s been a busy start to the new year for the Arranmore RNLI crews.
The volunteer lifeboat crews were called to task for three seperate medical evacuations from the island in the space of just a few days.
Their first callout came on the morning of Tuesday the 2nd of January, to transport a patient to Burtonport so they could be placed on an ambulance.
Then on Thursday the 4th, they assisted in another medical evacuation in which the Rescue 118 helicopter was also involved in transporting an injured person from the island.
That was then followed up by a call yesterday evening, with crews tasked to another medical evacuation from the island at 8pm.
Coxswain Jimmy Early said that “we are happy to assist with all emergencies and would like to pay tribute to the Coastguard rescue 118 personnel for their commitment to not only the people of Arranmore but to responding to all emergencies, it is a privilege to work alongside this vital service.”
