A Go Safe camera vanA taxi-driver was caught speeding by a speed camera van FOUR times in less than an hour!

Ikechukwu Nwadike, appeared before Letterkenny District Court today charged with not paying two of the fines.

The court heard how the cabbie was taking a woman to a Garda station after she failed to pay her fare.

However, when he arrived at the station, the woman agreed to pay and she then asked him to return her to her home.

In all the taxi-driver was captured by the speed van doing 76kph, 79kph, 71kph and 79kph – all in a 60kph zone on May 3rd last.

Judge Paul Kelly asked solicitor Gordon Curley how his client could not see the speed van, which was parked at Glenfin Road, Ballybofey on FOUR different occasions.

Mr Curley said he simply could not explain the situation.

“Judge Kelly said “He seems to have a habit of speeding. I just find it astounding (that he did not see speed camera van).”

Nwadike had paid for two of the fines but said he did not receive summons for the other two speeding offences.

Passing sentence, Judge Kelly said that this was Mr Nwadike’s lucky day as he faced losing his driving license if found guilty.

He dismisssed both remaining charges.

“It’s your lucky day. Make sure you don’t get any more (speeding charges),” said Judge Kelly.
