DDTV: The old footballing cliché ‘form is temporary class is permanent’ fits the description of Shay Given perfectly.
Given is without doubt one of the finest goalkeepers to ever grace the Premier League, and even at the age of 38 is still capable of producing wonderful saves.
Despite only playing thirteen times for Aston Villa in the last three seasons, Given reminded everybody he’s still got the ability to play at the highest level with this superb save.
It came during Aston Villa’s FA Cup victory over Leicester City yesterday afternoon, a game which was screened live on the BBC.
With new manager Tim Sherwood watching on from the stands, Given’s performance has gave the incoming manager some food for thought with regards his No.1 choice in goals.
