A full weather warning has come into effect this morning across Donegal as snow begins to fall.

Most roads are passable at present (9am) but further snowfalls are expected throughout the day.

The weather warning, which includes the probability of ‘thundersnow’, will last for the next 48 hours with Donegal under an Orange Weather Alert at present.

Donegal County Council have been gritting roads and have workers on standby in the event of emergency situations.

The council will be updating its social media site throughout the day and can be accessed on www.donegalcoco.ie

Gardai are also warning people to take extra care on the roads.
