Former Donegal footballer Kevin Rafferty has been in fine form at Letterkenny Golf Club of late and he continued that run on Sunday.

Kieran Walsh (12) came in second with 37 points. and Tommy Greally (19) took third place with 36 points.

L/R Kevin Rafferty (5) won with 38 points., Kenny King (8) 37 points. Captain Colin Morrow & Chris Wuertz (26) 36 points.

Last Wednesday, an Open Competition was held in Letterkenny. Denis Murphy (26) won the competition with an excellent 40 points. Sean Gildea (20) came in second with 36 points and Hugh Gallagher (10) came in 3rd with 34 points.

The Saturday Open was played which resulted in some excellent scores.  Patrick Keeney (7) was the winner and lowest gross with 44 points.

On this excellent round of golf he got 3 birdies, 12 pars and 3 bogeys. Ronan Daly (12) came in second with 41 points. and Michael Shiel Jnr. (6) came in third with 40 points.

Congratulations to Ballyliffin Golf Club who beat Letterkenny and progressed to the final of the Donegal League.

They were leading by 3 1/2 to 1 1/2 from the first leg in Ballyliffin.

The Seamus Farren led team fought a great comeback to bring the match to a tie hole, which Ballyliffin won. Wins for Kieran Sweeney / Michael Shiel, Liam Wiseman / Ronan Daly, Brian O’Donnell / John Russel and a half match by Kevin Hensey / Keith Shiels. Congratulations to Ballyliffin and we wish them good luck in the final against Buncrana.

Golf was the winner over the two legs with both matches played in a very sporting manner, which is what the Donegal League is all about.
