Thousands are pouring into Ballyliffin Golf Club for the 2018 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open – which is underway today with the Pro-Am.

The Inishowen venue is set to provide a stunning backdrop for the event. The Irish Open begins tomorrow morning, but a host of celebrities are in town for today’s Pro-Am.

McIlroy has just teed off in a group including JP McManus, Dermot Desmond and AP McCoy.

Shay Given is playing alongside Dylan Fritelli, Dennis Taylor and Tim Murray, while Paul McGinley has begun his round in the company of Michael McGinley senior, Michael McGinley junior and Dick Sprring.

A Donegal County Council team of Seamus Hopkins, Councillor Paul Canning and Brian O’Donnell had an early morning start with Richie Ramsay, while Donegal captain Michael Murphy and our own Charlie Collins are in separate groups in the afternoon round.

Huge crowds descended on the first tee this morning as McIlroy set off around the Glashedy Links.
