The Cabinet has agreed on measures to ease lockdown in the next two months.
An Taoiseach Micheal Martin will address the nation at 6pm this evening to announce the full details of the reopening plan.
It is expecting that the Taoiseach will give clarity on a full list of May and June reopening dates, as well as dates to be considered in the future for indoor hospitality, gym classes, outdoor mass gatherings and indoor team sports. The government is also expected to consider increasing the number of guests at wedding celebrations from six to 25 later this summer, if the public health situation stays on track.
The reopening plan so far:
10th May:
- intercounty travel
- hairdressers, barbers and beauty salons to reopen
- Click-and-collect retail resumes
- Adult team sports training will resume
- Three households can meet outdoors/in gardens.
- Up to 50 people will be allowed attend religious services including weddings, funerals and masses (however, indoor wedding parties will remain capped at six guests and 15 for outdoor celebrations)
- Museums, libraries and galleries
- Driving tests
- House viewings
17th May:
- Full reopening of retail
2nd June:
- Hotels and B&Bs reopen
7th June:
- outdoor dining and drinking at outdoor pubs (wet pubs to reopen without the requirement to serve food, €9 food order will no longer be in force)
- gyms (individual training)
- swimming pools
