Derry man brought to court on foot of three bench warrants

July 30, 2021

A DERRY man was arrested and brought before Carndonagh District Court on foot of three bench warrants.

John James McDaid of 60 Earhart Park was charged with alleged dangerous driving and drug driving at Ardmore, Muff, on October 17, 2019. He failed to appear at three previous sittings of the court.

Garda Sergeant Sean McDaid told Judge Deirdre Gearty that the defendant was arrested at the weekend.

Asked why he had failed to turn up in court, McDaid told Judge Gearty that he did not receive any summonses in relation to the matter. He added that he was currently unemployed and that he lives with his father.

The Judge advised him to get a solicitor as the charges related to ‘serious matters’ and that he should turn up for future hearings.

She adjourned the matter to the September sitting of the same court.
